I met Bridget + Dan in August of 2014 through one of the most thoughtful e-mails I had ever received. Bridget went on to tell me about how they met, their proposal story, her father, and their amazing wedding day. The love, the heartbreak and the magic. These two souls found each other and they found me. I couldn’t have been more thrilled to photograph their love and document their special day.

Here’s their story through Bridget’s e-mail to me.

“Dan and I have been together for 6 years. We met while attending The Theatre School at DePaul; Dan is originally from Minnesota and I am a Chicagoan born and raised. We are both actors here in the city. Dan is currently in Avenue Q at the Mercury Theatre (100th show tonight! what what!) and I will be opening a show at the end of this month that will run through the fall called The Whaleship Essex (it’s epic). We are both Cancers and have 2 cats and live in Lincoln Square across the hall from my best friend from high school and her boyfriend. We do our best to have a good time and excited to build a life together.

Dan proposed this past December. His original August proposal plan involved many of our friends and family in different places around the Broadway/Wellington area and me going from place to place until I eventually met up with him and then we would all get sushi at one of our favorite sushi places. He had it all planned and everyone knew and I thought that night I was going to a theatre audition so he knew I would show up. Unfortunately, two days before that was going to happen my dad went into the hospital and then quickly passed 4 days later. It was a total shock and still is. Dan and my father got a long famously, and it is a total blessing to know that Dan had talked to my Dad 2 weeks prior to let him know he had a ring and asked for my Dad’s blessing. My Dad then announced it to all the men in a nearby men’s room “THIS IS MY FUTURE SON IN LAW!” He was super proud. So later in the year, in December, Dan and I were bringing laundry upstairs and he said he needed help with one of the bags and when I turned around he was on one knee. We then went upstairs and told the cats who seemed indifferent and then went across the hall to drink cider and play some board games with a few friends. It was perfect…”

Their wedding day took place this past November at City View Loft in the West Loop of Chicago, The wedding was mostly DIY by Bridget but with some epic floral help from Carolyn at The Bread and The Butterfly and amazing planning by Charlene at Naturally Yours Events. Bridget and Dan are naturals. So full of joy, laughter and emotion. Their day was a beautiful celebration that will exist for a lifetime.
