It’s not every day you are asked by a fellow photographer to photograph their intimate Door County, Wisconsin wedding. It’s not every day that, that photographer is one of your own. This past October I had the great pleasure of photographing Emma’s wedding in Door County, Wisconsin. Emma and Jeremy came in to my life a few years ago when Emma responded to an ad I had posted looking for an intern. We met, we clicked and now she’s been one of my right hands for a few years. Their wedding was a simple affair and so them. Their engagement was secret and so was their wedding. They didn’t want to bring attention to themselves so Emma planned their wedding day entirely in secret with only me and a few family members knowing. It was October, the leaves were changing, the temperature was brisk. If you wanted a fall wedding, this was the day to do it. (Fall if my favorite time of year and I honestly don’t get to shoot enough weddings in the beautiful fall weather. Hint! Hint!) They booked a cute little cottage in the small fishing town of Fish Creek, Wisconsin to getting ready together in with just their siblings. Emma’s dress vintage, along with her gloves. Her bouquet was made of flowers from her late father’s garden, dried and aged for her wedding day. Midday we headed off for portraits and an intimate ceremony planned inside Peninsula State Park. Honestly, it was perfect. It was emotional. It was amazing. They ended their day with the sun setting in the park, for a moment, it was just the two of them as I scrambled across some rocks in the middle of an ice cold lake (nearly falling, mind you) while what I thought heard was Emma laughing at me, instead when I turned around I found Emma crying. In that moment, I knew the day was perfect and I was happy to capturing it. Not to mention, the day ended with a fish fry. Now go hit play and scroll.
